Jane Barlow: DPhil, FFPH (Hon)

Professor of Social Policy & Intervention at the Department of Social Policy & Intervention, University of Oxford

Jane is Chief Investigator of the Warwick Consortium evaluation of A Better Start, and became the Professor of Social Policy & Intervention at the Department of Social Policy & Intervention at the University of Oxford in 2016.  She previously held the post of Professor of Public Health in the Early Years at the University of Warwick since 2008. 

Jane’s main research interests and expertise are in the role of early parenting in the aetiology of mental health problems, and in particular the evaluation of early interventions aimed at improving parenting practices and reducing the risk of child maltreatment, particularly during pregnancy and the postnatal period.

Jane is President of the UK Association of Infant Mental Health, co-chair of the Campbell Social Welfare Group, and an editor of Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
