Kathy has held the post of Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Oxford since 1997. She has carried out many large-scale studies on the effects of early childhood education and care on children’s development. Kathy also studies the development of literacy, including ways to help parents support reading in their children. A related theme in her research is the impact of intervention on combating social disadvantage in both developed and developing countries. Kathy is part of the Warwick Consortium. Together with colleague, Sandra Mathers, she is responsible for leading and developing the early years education part of Workstream 2: the Impact Evaluation.
